Forklift Competition Results

Spenser Hill of Salt Lake City won the 8th annual forklift rodeo sponsored by Utah Manufacturers Association.

The forklift rodeo took place on September 25 at a West Valley City, Utah Warehouse. Each contestant used a Yale and Hyster forklift to compete. Each forklift had a lifting capacity of 5,000 pounds.  

According to the Utah Manufacturers Association, “This competition encourages companies to enter their best forklift drivers to compete against other top drivers from around the state. Based principally on safety, drivers will compete in four different events with each maneuver emphasizing safety, driving ability and accuracy on courses featuring an obstacle course, loading and unloading a trailer, stacking and shelving pallets and a safety inspection of the equipment.”

Hill, who won $500 for his efforts, works for Boeing Corp. The company earned the rights to display the trophy for the next year.

The competition included forklift safety inspection, forklift obstacle course, loading and unloading and stacking. Hill received 299 points out of a possible 300.

Second place finisher, Jason Clark from Morton Salt Co. had a score of 298. His prize was $300. He beat out third place forklift rodeo finisher Richardo Basulto from Schiff Products Inc who won the $100 prize.
