Basic Forklift Safety Tips

It’s very important to keep forklift safety a priority when operating forklifts. They can be very dangerous if precautions are not taken and regulations are not followed.

There are several basic guidelines to keep in mind.

You’ll want to make sure that you have specific instructions for all your different machines. Forklifts come in many different shapes and sizes and makes and models. You must give your operators the proper instructions for their machine.

It’s also important to wear proper forklift safety gear including proper ear protection, face and eye protection and glasses and goggles.

Most importantly, you and your staff must follow all OSHA Regulations.

For example, OSHA requires that all:

Modifications and additions which affect capacity and safe operation shall not be performed by the customer or user without manufacturers prior written approval. Capacity, operation, and maintenance instruction plates, tags, or decals shall be changed accordingly.
